Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

*Telecommute position with up to 60% travel.

CPG’s account management provides domestic and international Episcopal dioceses, parishes, and other organizations with informed and dedicated support in understanding and accessing the full range of employee benefits-related products, services, and programs available to them.

The goal of the Account Specialist role is to build and maintain strong, trusting, and professional relationships with domestic and/or international bishops, diocesan, parish, and Episcopal employer leadership served by the Church Pension Group, so they come to experience and understand CPG as a consultative benefits partner within the context of our mission.

The incumbent must:

  • Understand and adapt to the diversity of supported clients
  • Effectively communicate CPG’s vision, business model, mission, and strategy to all levels of client leadership.
  • Be proactive in assessing and managing the information and service needs of Episcopal employer groups
  • Be collaborative in working with colleagues within CPG to respond to the benefits needs of supported employers.

The success of this role will be measured in terms of client engagement and universal respect measured by client satisfaction scores and other feedback collected from those we serve.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Manage a system of ongoing outreach to domestic bishops and diocesan and parish leadership
  • Develop and maintain expertise regarding available CPG products, services, programs, and resources
  • Support the Office of the President and Church Relations in proactively managing relationships with domestic bishops and clergy
  • Provide service, support, and intervention to resolve complex cases
  • Understand and follow appropriate escalation processes
  • Maintain all required recording and reporting using CPG’s systems
  • Collaborate with peers around CPG to ensure a high-level of service to domestic clients
  • Solicit and share client feedback as part of the Voice of the Client program
  • Consult with peers in the evaluation, development, and deployment of new domestic benefit products, programs, and services
  • Lead or participate in special projects as assigned
  • Support organizations required to comply with General Convention mandates (i.e. the Denominational Health Plan and Lay Pension System)
  • Ensure a consistent revenue base through business retention and business development
    • Assist with the voluntary market sales strategy for CPG health, dental, pension, group life and disability products by:
      • Identifying non-participating Episcopal institutions through client networking
      • Raising the awareness in Episcopal institutions of CPG’s employee benefit products and service model
    • Execute CPG’s sales strategy for healthcare benefits (new business on existing accounts):
      • Identify those dioceses and parishes not providing a full array of CPG’s healthcare benefits
      • Develop proposals, associated financial analyses, and sales presentations that will provide group leadership with a compelling case to enroll in programs offered by CPG
      • Provide account and relationship management and offer quality member education for new group implementations
